1957 Buick Century Caballero Estate Wagon, GM's top-o'-the-line hauler that year.
As the folks make ready for a trip, about the only thing missing is Fido, the family pooch...

My friends here in town just sold their '57 Caballero to some other friends in CA. It's shown below
with my '57 Roadmaster at Rankin's Grocery in 1993, a local high school hangout back in the '60's...

    Silverfox,

No, my buds just sold it, to some friends who'll do a major chassis upgrade to haul an Airstream trailer around CA.
They miss it, but it needed more work than they were willing to do; I miss it, too, but I'll always have my '57 RM.
Kinda like my '66 CS, they'll have to pry the keys from my cold, dead hands!

Interesting to see how much shorter the wagon appears to be. Notice the longer front fender on the Roadmaster (look at the distance between the trailing edge of the front wheel well opening to the front door). And the rear doors on the wagon have a dog leg to stretch over the rear wheel well while the Roadmaster hardly has a rear door dog leg at all. And the rear overhang on the Roadmaster appears much longer than the rear overhang on the wagon.

Sorry to but in but... After looking at them both very carefully, I find that I have to agree that the wagon does look shorter. Why I wonder? Does it just have a different wheel base while still having the same body length or is it just shorter?

The RMs and Supers rode on a 127.5" whb on GM's C-Body (shared with Cadillac), while the Century & Specials made do with 122," on the B-Body shared with all Olds (though the 98 had a 124" whb). The "big" Buicks are about 3" wider and 7" longer, and share no body panels with their smaller stablemates.

Thanks for the good words; the pic was taken after I'd had the RM for about a year, before any work had been done to her. She looks a lot better now, but is still a driver. That's my plan for the '66 CS, too, a nice driver that I can enjoy and worry about.

I think I remember this contest! Might have even entered it. We always had a box of Corn Flakes in the cupboard.
