The Rambler looks a bit pissy about the whole thing.

Maybe they just limped the falcon over to the dealership and got a new Studebaker

Yeah the cop car is a ‘62. That Falcon looks pretty rough. Wonder if the high speed impact into the Rambler sprung the trunk? His luck he would buy the new for ‘63 Studebaker, and it would come with a 5 year warranty.

2 pics above is the Coronado Island Ferry, down San Diego way. Somewhat sadly, the Ferry was replaced years ago by a big new bridge.....

Also, 'Coronado Island' isn't an 'island' at all. Those big hotels you're seeing in the pic above are on the north part of the Coronado peninsula, which stretches south, almost to the Mexican border. So if you didn't want to drive on the bridge, take the freeway south for about 10+ miles, then go into the town of Imperial Beach and catch the road that goes up the peninsula...... Makes for a nice drive. We've done it.

Yup, where USS Constellation CV64 was homeported back in the late Eighties. I've never walked the bridge (suicidal, even if you're not suicidal), but I've gone across it riding bitch on a motorcycle and rode buses constantly. At one point, in '88, IIRC, a foot ferry went from the foot of Broadway Ave to about a mile East of NASNI's 'pier gate.' And, Marshall, FYI, the Silver Strand, the strip that all the hotels and condos are built on (which mostly weren't there when I was there) was made from the dredgings along San Diego Harbor, especially in front of 32nd St. Naval Station and NASSCO. when my dad was in Boot Camp in 1947, there were tidal flats between North Island and Imperial Beach, but no highway, and certainly no buildings.

BTW, the toll plaza has a plaque (I have a picture somewhere) when the bridge was built and dedicated in 1969. Of course, Ronald Reagan was Governor, and the State Finance Director was Caspar Weinberger.
