Wagons in vintage Street scenes

Hey! We've got a '58 Edsel Villager in #28291, and (I think) a '54 Desoto in #28292!

 

You like the Edsel's Marshall?

 

Tell me why it isn't a 57 Ford?
They mention the Civil Defense in the next picture. Anyone remember those days. We used to have drills frequently. Our BS Explorer post took Civil Defense training with our local fire dept. and we received our Civil Defense certification along with them. In school we had to hide under our desks and in the army, we were supposed to squat and cover with our rain ponchos. I think a better solution would have been to bend over, put your head between your legs, and kiss your sweet ass goodbye.

 

I'm not certain what you're asking. Are you questioning whether or not the blue and white wagon in post #28291 is in fact an Edsel? Or are you asking why the owner chose an Edsel over a Ford?
If it's the first, then I'd say it's pretty easy to demonstrate as to why it's an Edsel. If it's the later, well then I couldn't say. Perhaps the owner got caught up in the Edsel fervor and decided to wait until 58 to buy his new family car.

 

I grabbed a few photos of my buddies 58 Edsel wagon off of his instant graham. They're not the greatest photos, but show the side cove and unique taillights.

 

I was. The picture wasn't all that clear to me and it looked like a bottom of the line 57 Ford. The pictures you posted make it clear. Thanks.

Apparently a Morris 8-40 Station wagon .... not sure if it was a factory issue or one-of-a-kind custom build.

The biggest 'tell' for me was the front fender. The '58 Edsel had unique fenders, with a distinct contour down low in the front. It was very obvious to me it was an Edsel.
This '58 Villager (same model as in the above photo) shows it well.

 

Marshall, If you are Jonesin' for another classic wagon, and have secured the funds from your home equity loan to build a bigger shop, let me know. My buddies 58 (pictured above) is for sale.

 

^^^ Unfortunately, that's not in the cards right now. And we'd have to sell and buy a bigger piece of property to get a bigger garage. Just NO room to add on here......

We ARE fixing up the inside a bit though. In the middle of a partial master bath remodel - primarily a new counter top and under-mount sinks; a 6' high wall of slate tiles behind the vanity; and new colors. Almost done with the slate tiles, then on to the sink plumbing.....
