Thanks for posting that. That’s actually a pretty well known picture of Central Ave in Albuquerque. Circa 1969 I think. Oddly enough that is still very recognizable. Not a lot has changed through that stretch.

 

Honestly, it looks like a still from a movie, but yes, that's the City of Smog.

 

I love the guy in the ‘55. Run through the auto wash, and pull out into the wet dirt exit. The wash was pretty crafty.

 

How convenient to live next to the food market. All that poor kid could do is sit in his car. When his mom asked him to go to the store, she probably said “No Jimmy, you are NOT driving.” Jimmy stayed in that house after his folks passing, and now drives that very same car across the street 11 times a day and back to pick up things at the store. Sadly that store closed in 1973, but Jimmy still drives over and peaks through the broken windows.

 

For some reason I just love this car. The paint, wheels, tires and signage... All simple and classy.

 

What do you bet those wheels and body were painted that Penzoil Goldenrod color, with the black body accents. Agree Orthmann. That’s one pretty rig.
