The Charlotte Coliseum is located at 2700 East Independence Blvd. in Charlotte, NC. In 1955 when it officially opened the structure was covered by the largest unsupported steel dome in the world. The Coliseum could accommodate anywhere between ten-to-fourteen thousand visitor seats. That number went up when later renovations were undertaken the . The building has survived and has been re-named the Bojangles’ Coliseum.

This circa-1959 image was taken from the parking lot behind the Coliseum and East Independence Blvd. is visible on either side behind building. The view, for the most part, contains 1950s domestic automobiles and at least one import.

I have never seen an actual Woody Drag car before, not alone a 48 Olds

I think that woody drag car was recently the subject of an article. I believe it has been restored.

God, I remember the Commissary and Exchange at Sandpoint Naval Station, Seattle. They were contained in an old hangar there, now long gone, for Magnuson Park. And if I watch the original "Yours, Mine and Ours" with Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball, the Commissary at Alameda looked almost exactly like the Commissary at Sandpoint.

I looked this up on Google Earth, and it's surprisingly similar in appearance - seems to be more trees / foliage on the far side from where the pic was taken, but the building itself looks the same.
