My old hang-out! Hamburger Handout in Culver City, CA.
Judging by the cars, it looks like this pic was taken in 1958, give or take.
Around 1954-1955, My family was still living in Culver City (where I was born), and occasionally going to this establishment. One of my earliest memories is breaking off the door key in the lock cylinder on my dad's '48 Dodge. He was a bit upset. (Maybe you should have got stronger keys, dad......)
Another part of the outings here was sometimes we drove a few more miles south and got buzzed by the DC-6's and 7's, and Connies as they landed at LAX.
By 1958, we had moved 3-4 miles in the opposite direction, and didn't frequent the place that much.

What'll you bet that those vintage burger-fed sheriffs could outrun today's donut-feds, on a quarter mile track, without blowing a ticker?

This American dream could of been had, back then, through only one spouse having to work only eight hours a day, at a normal job. I wonder what dad's car looked like

There's a banner on the left end of the building, touting a "sixth anniversary" sale on hamburgers, so if you know what year it opened, you can pin down exactly what year that photo was taken.

Edit: Hmm, there's no page for the Hamburger Handout, nor for its owner, on Wikipedia. Krash, is this something you might want to take on, as a little hobby side project?

Interesting to read that. I think, he must've seen the writing on the wall with the McDonald's franchising, and talking to Harland Sanders sealed his burger joint's fate. One thing about Harland Sanders, he was always looking for entrepreneurs who appeared to have their act together, and in bringing them into the fold, turned them into even better entrepreneurs. Collins, and the late Dave Thomas, of Wendy's fame, are good examples of that.
