You got my attention with that! I had to peel back my front carpet yesterday, and I couldn't believe the humidity under there! I just finished doing a full resto in July 2008. Not one wire inside or glass on the car, new paint - inside and out. New sound-proofing mats on the floor!

I haven't driven the car any more than 2,000 miles in a whole year! Maybe 200 miles last winter! I was really surprised.

Makes me wonder if the old VW Beetles with the floorpan were on the right track. Or maybe a different, more breathable flooring material. Some car manufacturer must have decided that Carpeting/Flooring could be made to prevent rusting floors!

I'm going to ask these guys about breathable floor covering. They seem to carry the broadest range of products, even rubberised cargo flooring:

    thanks

for the rust, its in my projects to check out the floors, but the cars was really anti-rusted(grease) so the floor and the frame are in real good shape, the car doesnt see the winter

Grease! That's a different idea! It would have to be odorless and non-acidic. hmmm...
