I hate the ESP, traction control and ABS on my Magnum, frigging nanny state won't let me have fun any more. At least the old K-car is still fun in the winter.
I read someplace that after 2016 new cars will have a snow sensing device that will prevent them from leaving home until it melts! This will save billions in snow removal equipment, deicers, and emplyees. All the extra money can be sent to other countries that need it more. At least I think I read that!
Wow,cool. Back in the day (winter of 1965) in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, our Farm leader had a Corvair wagon and did the same sliding thing with us students in it! Man,would that car wag its tail! Meanwhile, today,my '73 Ford Country Sedan was originally ordered with Trac-Lok,so in that snowy winter of 2015,no need for snow tires. Limited slip rear axle for RWD should be standard equipment in the wintry parts of the country, but it's not. (It's an inexpensive option).
The very best 2wd vehicle I ever had in the snow was a 1964 Chevy Nova 400 wagon, 283 w/ powerglide. Just wouldnt get stuck. Ashame it rusted away to nothing, but it did become a donor car for another Chevy II. Unc
My '77 Datsun 810 wagon was very good in the snow, so in order to do squirrely stuff, you had to involve the handbrake....
