I've got to find an electronic supply house and look for one of those joystick controls and a small breadboard to rework a custom switch.

I'll post my findings. Thanks for your help.

    Not so fast, Normie!:whew:

I saw some speakers mounted on swivels on this site, that might work in the rear corners of the cargo area.

It wasn't from these guys, but the housing idea would let me find a 'sweet spot' for good sound:

Anyway, I'll mount the new door speakers, keep the front dash speakers, and try it with the rear cargo 6X9's where they are. I think those are the problem. I want a nice crisp, mellow and full sound. And not all from my side of the car, or by having to melt the wax out of my ears. I can use Q-tips for that. :rofl2:

Unfortunately to get a good sound out of an older car you have to spend some money on good equipment and most likely as you found out the factory placement isn't optimal. Manufactuers spend alot more money and time nowadays to find the best placement for speakers. Back in the day when I was somewhat into car audio, to get a system to sound it's best people would use a sound processor. I'm not up on the new products but this is an example of what I'm talking about. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_5753SIXTY2/Rockford-Fosgate-3SIXTY-2.html?tp=428

Now that's a good idea. Didn't know that kind of equipment existed. I've got some friends in acoustics. Never connected the dots. Thanks.
