    That's why we moved to Florida. To save wear and tear on our bodies.
    As far as engine heat, I believe the "in heater hose" heater did the best. In central illinois once I bought new cars I no longer had cold starting problems. Modern ignition and fuel systems really are better than 6-volts and points.
    Imagine the good ole days when they had to drain the radiators at night and cover the engine with a horse blanket.

    When I first started driving big yeller diesel trucks they were left running 24/7 in cold weather and had glow plugs to start. Later we plugged them into an engine heater and they started just like a car gas engine.

    Now that I like! Next time I'm driving my propane powered Buick whose carbon foot print was left stamped into the ground many a tree hugger ago:rofl2:..... I'm gona do that, park my propane powered land barge Buick in one of those spots that are appearing every where out here AND plug in my block heater!:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

    .....guess I better go buy a block heater now:D

    Hey, those block heaters do a bit for fuel economy too. I'm not sure how much, but the engine warm-up time is reduced.

    Back when I worked for a living gas was so cheap few people worried about fuel economy.
    The engine water heaters I used fit in the lower radiator return hose. Seemed to work the best of all engine heaters I tried.
    The best engine preheater I've seen lately is "Florida."
