That's awesome! I hope to make it out there someday to see it for myself. Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much.
That orange kettle is a "Fireless Cooker" locomotive. The vessel is filled with heated water to warm up the vessel, then dry live steam is pumped in to pressurize the vessel, and off the little Cooker goes! IIRC, it gets two steam injections for one day's work.
One of those just auctioned-off cheap. They were even nice, as 4-door sedans: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1954-mercury-monterey/
Dad bought a '54 Monterey 4-door in '55, a few months before he and Mom got married. It was dark red and cream in color.
Friends' dad had a mid 50's Mercury hardtop. Can't remember if it was a '54, '55 or '56. Beautiful car, 2-tone.
I had found a group of pics online of a '54, in the two colors Dad's was in; I asked him if those were the colors, and he said yes, but he also said the colors on his car were reversed from the car in the pic. Basically, his roof and quarters were cream on red, and the car in the pics was red on cream.
