And there, boys and girls, is the real answer why there are NO affordable used cars and trucks with low mileage. People actually tout 150K miles as "low mileage!", which is ridiculous.

We also have a used car market that is still showing the after-effects from "cash for clunkers".

I would not go as far to say NO affordable used cars/trucks/low millage are available but C-F-Clunkers has made it horribly hard to find something decent at a decent price. Out here 80's-early 90's cars were the main target with not only every car lot having a full size dumpster out front with what appeared to look like decent cars sticking out of it. Even our local government went on the band wagon, offering up to $1500 for a bicycle trade in and a 1 year bus pass if you gave them your old car. The old 80's used car market died out here and because of it only 1 out of 10-15 cars are even worth looking at for a daily driver.. Up until CFC it was still a regular thing to see a 80's caprice as a example, now it's a, WOW a 80's Caprice!

    Update:

I got all of work done on the 99 Escalade and have decided to keep it hopefully for a couple of more years. At the garage, I got new head gaskets, new valve cover gaskets, a complete set of shocks around, brakes redone, new serpentine belt, and the a/c was charged back up after discovering the source of the leak. Knock on Colony Park wood, it is running like a champ, and I feel greatly relieved that I am not staring down a huge car payment for the next 5 or 6 years. Yay.
