Getting original weatherstripping for older cars is either impossible or very expensive. My 1970 wagon has weatherstripping that looks like it is glued onto the door frame. So instead of hunting for original replacement, what do you guys think of this: http://www.jcwhitney.com/Trim-Unive...8661_N_111+1970+200728458+600003813_10101.jcw or http://www.jcwhitney.com/Trim-Unive...8603_N_111+1970+200728458+600003813_10101.jcw Anybody here used this type of product? To me it looks like a decent alternative. The only problem is that my weatherstripping is rotted so I can't even make what the original shape was
The Whitney stuff is all from the major manufacturers. Metro Molded Rubber, Steele Rubber and SoftSeal. Go online and get their free catalogs. Or, order on line. The must be a small piece that can be measured on the profile. Good luck.
I need some too, and I am a buyer for a boatbuilder and I buy weatherstrip for the boats... I will try myself next week Trim-lock and Kelcom are vendors of mine Getting to be rainy season here and Big Edie is outside!
I remember one, A friend of my Dad has a burgandy/red one. As our parrents summer BBQed alot together I saw it often. I remember how Dad's 70 Cougar looked small beside it and our 77 Ford camper van looked short I like that wagon....I could get a few more dogs if I owned it
Hey Jeff....if that car would have been a different color...you may not be the owner right now. I would have been all over it! I don't like light blue cars....OTOH....now that I see your pix....I think I like that car in that color. It really is a beauty. It really is.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
thanks I was not wild about it either, as a matter of fact, I had a 77 Toro this color that I got rid of pretty quickly (also, 403 was kind of a dog) but this was so nice, so well optioned, and very "of the day" that I overlooked it, and it really is growing on me. It runs so well too. Went for a long ride last night and had it up to 90 and it was just cruising and so smooth and would have gone faster but I backed off. It was just so dirty when I got it, under the hood was so sad, and by mistake I sprayed WD-40 on something and it got somewhere else and it looked great, so I have been soaking everything under the hood in WD-40. Kind of like armorall on the hoses and black plastic that nothing was seeming to help but that is making it all look great and good for it too!
Ill trade you a kidney, a pinky finger, and my sister for that wagon. I love it that it has power. Can you imagine what people think when they try to pass you and you punch it....
