OK so I've this idea for a while now let me know what you think and of course if someone has already done it let me know and show me some pics. Get out your welder! I want to build a 2 door 85 caprice wagon. I'm thinking start with a 4 door caprice and replace the front doors (and jambs) with doors from a 2 door then add the back of a wagon, have the two doors door latch up where the rear door use to on the wagon. Basicaly cut the 4 door sedans body after the front door and cut the wagons body after the rear door and put them together using that long door form the 2 door. Make sense? My other great idea involves a late 80's Olds full size wagon on a 02 Tahoe 4x4 frame but do it right so it doesnt look like a late 80s wagon setting on a 4x4 chassis but I like the 3 door wagon idea better.

Interesting thought. You should do a mock-up on PhotoShop/similar. See if the likely result is the same as what your mind's eye sees. I'd be interested to see what you come up with.

I wonder if it would be easier (and I know nothing about this sort of thing...so bear with me) to use a 2-door Caprice as the donor for the front end. You'd be limiting yourself to a model no newer than 1987, IIRC...because the coupe was dropped after then.

I think it would be much easier to graft the 2-dr. doors and jambs directly onto the wagon. Why mix and match three cars when you could do it with two? Much less body work that way.

There are a ton of 4x4's wagons like that so that's nothing new, most look like wagons on 4x4 frames though.
To make a 2 door out of a wagon I would think you'd want to keep the boxed wagon frame as opposed to the open frame from a sedan for a conversion?

There is also a member who took a mid 60s (think it was a 63) Mopar 4 door wagon and made it into a 2 door post wagon. If I remember correctly, he set it up like a 60's gasser/altered wheel base dragster.

Just Stumbled on this CL ad for a 88 Caprice 2 door wagon, it could save you alot of welding time!!!! I am not sure I like shaved door handles, or the tail lights, but it should give you a good idea of how the body work will look.

Hate the brake lamps. The stock factory lights would look better, although I sort of prefer the Pontiac ones. Otherwise, it looks interesting. There is something almost mid-60s Malibu going on with the rear wheel wells, though.

Thats what I'm talking about. I like it some of the bodywork is not for me like the tail lights but thats the overall idea.
