Still need the Premium Sound Switch. The Amp and radio are the right ones, but the switch is the kicker. Hard to find. I've found a guy with one from a 1980 TBird who's gonna look in his parts boxes. I can go ahead anyway, since the system is wired to run with or without the AMP, and just use the stock connection. It'll be nice to have a radio that doesn't scan perpetually. This electronic moron from Sony is yunk and sounds worse (too under powered at 10 watts per speaker). Tuning, Dash, Clock and two extra gauges - Vacuum and Volts, Radio and speakers relocated. That's my list.
Rain and drizzle brought me down, Dropped my hopes to the ground. Hopin' the weather turns around, But that durn old rain's got me down.:banghead3: Did make some advances on the wiring circuit drawing though.
There's a Plus to this miserable weather. Our Skitters aren't breeding so early! The downside is Cankerworms, they've got their own clock and if they can hatch without frost, they thrive, plus our Dutch Elms are the City's iconic tree, so we're trying something new this year. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2009/05/19/mb-dutch-elm-vaccine.html
Wondered when I'd get that! Tomorrow looks like a good day to get to the tuneup. Then the dash and gauges, etc...
Yeah it rained but it stopped. I couldn't help myself, went out and changed the oil on the Caprice. First one for me and her, went well.
I got in on this thread a little late, but here is my $.02........The factory recommended timing setting is for pollution purposes. Bumping it up some is fine as long as the engine does not "rattle". As the timing chain stretches, it throws the ignition timing/valve timing off anyhow. Of course, this wouldn't be as true for cars with timing gears without chains. An old mechanic told me to advance the distributor to where a slight "spark knock" could be heard when the engine was in a strain. Years ago, when I worked as a mechanic in a Chrysler store, if you set the timing where the decal said on a new car, performance was way down. Advancing the timing a few degrees made all the difference in the world.
Well, it seems that Accel, MSD and Mr-Gasket all agree with you. They sell an Advanced Ignition Curve kit that pushes the advance on these to somewhere around 18* for under $10. 2 little springs changed in the distributor and you get better oomph, better mileage, and the torque within the right RPMs. I got me a set. I drove Andy's wagon and it does all of the above.
