Agree, early 60s Pontiacs had good lean lines and stance. Believe the fat hips look of the mid 60s started with the Buicks, especially the Riviera. Fine for Buicks, they were to be boulevard cruisers. Pontiac being Pontiac took the look a step further and wound up looking pudgy.

Yeah, that seemed strange for Pontiac to get start putting on the pounds in '65. That's something you would expect from the more expensive divisions like Buick.
Generally though, 1962 was one of the best if not best early sixties design years for the Big Three

Talking about Buick, the '62 Meteor's front end seems to look uncannilly Buickesque:

Stopped by the Downtown Farmer's market on Sunday after church. We do have some neat old buildings in our downtown. Unfortunately, like many places, many of them are't being utilized.

We took my Father-in-law's 71 Bronco into the local glass shop to get some new weatherstripping installed. Sitting in the first bay was this neat little Valiant. It's fun to see the family resemblance between it and my car. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a photo of the two of them together. IMG_9521.JPG IMG_9520.JPG IMG_9518.JPG IMG_9519.JPG

I've enjoyed seeing original plates on a number of vehicles lately, and this one had them too!

It's an original plate, but it's been redone. Washington uses a mask setup for painting the numbers and letters, and if you look very closely, the straight lines are not crisply straight. Man, if the State knew how many people would want authentic restored license plates instead of those craptastic 'collector' plates, they could charge for it, make big money, and make car collectors happy with professional-looking restorations.

Thanks for the photos Silvertwinkiehobo, love seeing "ordinary cars" that have been saved. As far as the State making money on reproducing plates, I just don't see it happenimg. If a State wants money it just takes it.

You're absolutely right. It's obvious when you get up to it. I also doubt the white paint is phosphorous. But, it has the right look and I think it gets the job done nicely.

Yeah, Leadslead obtained two sets of 1973 TX plates for the Barge and Bear, but both will require restoration, and I'm not sure you can get the phosphor paint anymore (I think the EPA said it gives your children three heads and fourteen fingers and toes). But we're going to see if retro reflective paint is available for individual sale.

Nice. Nothing like a period correct plate to add that little icing on the cake.

Speaking of period correct/vintage plates, Caleb and I visited an antique shop in Union Gap on Sunday afternoon that is in an old house. The garage doesn't look like it's changed much since it was built, so I took the opportunity to snap a few photos while the shopkeeper opened things up for us.

This is the best of the bunch, because there aren't any modern vehicles or the like, sneaking into the photo.

The boys and I met my folks for ice cream last Friday evening for my birthday. I didn't realize it before hand, but the spot we went to was having a little cruise in. It was a fun surprise.

We'll, Happy Birthday, Jeremiah! And of the photos, I like the first one the best. Can't explain why, but it just hit me more than the other two did.
