Anyone know where I can find a Class A trailer hitch for my 60 Parkwood? I've been looking but not having any luck finding one. I wanna tow my show car around to local displays I'm near Houston Thanks Clay
Class A? I thought they were 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5? Believe it or not try uhaul, they have some new old stock they can bring in. If not, it's a custom one, and you would be better off doing it yourself if you're a welder. Ask me how I know.
If you find an NOS hitch for a car that's well over a half-century old, you had better play the lottery. You're most likely path is to have one custom built, or find a hitch for a truck that has comparable frame rail spacing and adapt it.
Uhaul had one for my 64 Cadillac, I found it online. I was at the local Uhaul for a trailer and inquired for shits and giggles. The young man at the counter said no immediately. I asked him to look for the heck of it. You should have seen his eyes pop when they had one.
Did you actually buy it, or at least touch it? I've had too many experiences where a part was allegedly in stock until I tried to actually touch it.
I bought a complete kit for my 1987 LeSabre Estate Wagon from Curt on Ebay. Fitted perfectly. But that is for a car that is only 31 years...
How do you know??????? Newer trucks have basically universal heavy duty trailer hitches. I've always had good luck measuring my vehicle then going to junk yards buying something close. A decent welder and drill can make about anything fit. I used the hitch from my '87 Chevy full sized van on my 1948 Chevy panel truck.
Real men don't use facebook or twitter. Real men drink beer and sort out the cars.. Are we related to Grizz?
Oh stop it, so now I know the response to that statement LOL. I was in a hurry to get my caddy ready for a short family vacation. I was going to trailer my inflatable boat to do some tubing and wake boarding on lake Huron with it. I had a shop make up a hitch as they could do it the next day. I ended up with a vapour lock in the cooling system so I had to take my truck as I didn't have time to sort it out. The thing hung way to low under the bumper and stood out like a sore thumb. So much for the hidden hitch I was promised. Oh well lesson learned about doing my own shit, again.
My home built hidden hitch on the 1948 panel truck. Just flip up the Monti Carlo license bracket and insert the receiver. The large plug-in is next to it. Sorry about the malfunctions.
