There is one thing I don't get. All those beautiful cars, crushed. If Americans can ship rebuilt wrecks to Canada to get rid of a branded title, why could not some, at least, of those cars have been brought up here? Your 1990 cars meet our 2000 emissions standards, too, so it would have been a benefit to us, as well as saving great cars! Anyone who too advantage of the program to get rid of a great car should be shunned by the true gear heads out here.

I think it all comes back too..... They got $2000 for a car that may only sell for $1000 there or on our side of the fence, plus all the import bs...:2cents:

I can't watch any more of these. Too sad.

What is the death-juice they use to seize? Is it just water?

GRRRR!!! Not only the wasteful destruction of these well made vehicles, but look at what this program has done to the used auto market. It has driven the price of a half decent old car way way up. A car that could have been bought 8 years ago with lower miles, and in better shape for less than $1000 will now cost you over $2000 . I don't recall an increase in the value of my dollar in the last 8 years. Yeah what about the people who are smart enough to know they cant afford a payment on a POS car that will not run or have any value by the time it's paid off.......you know, I have an old Atari, 1981 just like my car, darn thing still works. My sons playstation 2 and our wii did not last more than 2 years. food for thought eh

Yow! There is little mention of the environmental impact from all of these engine destructions, nearly every youtube video ends with a smoking mess with fluids spilled.
There is a vid out there of a Jeep 4.0 V-8, which is regarded as a weak engine by some, that obviously has tossed some internal bits but keeps on running for a good long time after. It was a fuming mess with flaming bits under the car and lots of fluids running onto the ground.
I'm surprised the EPA didn't step in and add another layer of bureacracy at our expense.

Sure did. Interestingly enough that particular engine, a 3.0 liter V-8, is the red headed step child among BMWs of the era.
