Grew up in New York, spent most of my early years in Akron, New England 6-8" of snow only meant that you had to get your car washed again, nothing closed for that amount. Moved to the Shenandoah valley 1st winter 3" of snow and people are freaking out, have to go home early; stores closed etc. Really?
This year NO SNOW at all and I sell snow blowers - am I a little over stocked - YUP
Haven't driven my "new" 85 wagon in 2 weeks am on meds for DT's

Yikes snow blowers for a living, that's tough. They are not making much money around here this year either.

I sold my old snowblower 23 years ago when we moved to Florida. Never needed it down there.
So now we are back in central Illinois. I've seen Illinois winters!
I almost bought a snow blower when my grown kids told me about all the snow we were going to get this winter. So far two little snows. First maybe a few inches that melted in a day.
Don't need to get up and go to work so if it does snow we can stare out the windows and hope one of the kids stops over someday to visit. I won't let them in the house till they shovel the drive!

Do your kids come by often or just when it snows?

The oldest son stops usually twice a week. On Fridays he gets carry out spegetti and the spegetti joint is not far out of his way here. And usually once a week little Izzy wants to see grandma and grandpa after she gets out of day care in another town. They have to drive out of their way to visit but usually our son makes a grocery store or hardware store stop too.
Son #2 has no car so we often stop to say hi since they are not much over a mile and we drive very near their little house.
Our daughter calls, emails, or stops, especially if I beg for something from a store near her travels.
The adopted son and friends call at least once a week from Florida. Several of our oldest friends often stop as they pass reasonably close.
We are located near a new 4-lane bypass and anyone we know doesn't have to travel more than a short distance to our house now. Sometimes I bribe them with beer, pizza, and candy!

With only one real snow and a second light covering it's been a nice winter. There's no place like home!

Worried about 1timreman Dennis. His area got bad tornadoes and storms Tuesday and so did the area where we lived in Florida.
Report in Dennis with Louisiana weather.

Not sure if they were the same tornadoes but a large one was headed for Perry, Florida and a few smaller just below that big bend area. Our youngest son and friends live below there. I worry about the home we sold.

These weather people are getting better. Here in central Illinois they predicted 1-3" of snow beginning around 6AM. I was up and it began then. From where I sit it looks nice with at least an inch and more to come. Except for a national emergency we're staying inside till Friday.:dizzy:
The only other emergency was my internet was off from Tues afternoon till this morning. Some of the west coast is out because of broken transatlantic cable. I don't think it comes to Illinois!

My son said they hit East New Orleans, Kenner, and a couple of parishes south of there. South Metarie got some wind damage, but he lives in North Metarie. Ping pong ball sized hail in Kenner and smaller sizes in other areas. Lots of wind damage.

We did fine in my area, we got wind and hail but spared the tornado activity. New Orleans East where I used to work got it bad. My dad was working in Old Metairie and had to run for cover from golf ball size hail. I work in Picayune, Mississippi and we seen marble sized hail but as stated, we were very fortunate compared to others just down the road.

Sort of like here in central Illinois except it's still cold today. Sunny, snow on ground, feels 16. First time we had to close the shear curtains on the front picture window. It was that or wear sunglasses in the house. I was getting snow blinded while at my computer.
Then tomorrow 48 with Sat 54. In 40's after that. My new computer is at the store with APPS added and ready to go. Only I'm not going :burnout:until the snow melts off the car sometime tomorrow.
This is enough to make a grown man smoke or cuss.:badwords: I think I'll stick to the cussin!:badwords:
