That beautiful yellow 1970 Buick Sport Wagon (above) took over the Buick Sportwagon name from the 1969 model with the 'Vista' roof. Buick had decided to switch things up a bit and drop their 'Vista roof' wagon and continue with just the 'flat top' in the mid-sized Special/Skylark range. They also replaced the 'Sportwagon' by now offering a new full-sized B-body Estate Wagon for 1970.

This wagon is long gone. She replaced it with a 4-rectangular-eyed blue El Camino

I've never yet gotten this close to finding the Holy Grail. I didn't have my camera aboard. So, I had to film this session with my crappy cell phone. It might be out there for a real camera session again today, because its owner was having dirt shovelled out of his garden.
The following images might still be clear enuff to show its chrome's astonishing absence of pitting.
According to one of the construction workers who got initially angry with me, thinking I was doing a photo shoot of them, then got friendly, telling me that the property owner inheritted it from his granddad on down:

I was so exited that I forgot to take a peek under the speedo, to see if it was originally a stick. Besides the floor-shift, steering wheel and under-dash guages, the seats and upholstery have been canary'd out for green front buckets and rest interior:

H4 headlamps mandated for Germany, filmed from my neighbor's 2005 Audi A4 wagon:

License plates enjoy data anonymity, here in Absurdistan. It's one of too many stupid laws they've had time to legislate-in, over here. As you'd guess, the H tacked on means historical.
My neighbor's wagon, on the right of this Nomad:

Having gotten used to hoods that pop from an underdash cable, I didn't think to pop that hood, to see what's been done.
This is a personalized license plate. So, the two numbers placed in front of the H is the vehicle's year of production. Despite posting on a foreign forum, the law requires me to adhere to local laws, because "I'm posting from here" (I once found that out the hard way). What then is the point of keeping personalized plates anonymized, when most of the time someone has their initials and birthdates printed onto them anyway? :coco:

This was the best part of Tuesday the 13th.
I'm going to make it a point to examine the taillight castings for pitting. That's where it starts, on these.
That dude sitting in that power shovel is glaring at me, I've now noticed. It's probably that same Yugoslav who got out in front of the wagon I was driving. He was probably working under the table, thinking I was goint to narc on him or something. He brightened right up, as soon as I asked if it was his car. He then started chirping out every detail he knew about it

Good thing the '56 Chevy had a 12 volt electrical system. A 6 volt system would have had a problem with those lights. Chevy switched to a 12 volt system from 6 volts for the 1955 model year.

Most every car maker switched to 12 volts, by 1955. I'm almost sure, the entire GM line-up did, by then
