oh those innovations So, that's where they got Vegas. Had always wondered about that. Not bad cars, really. Considering most of what Japan was trying to sell us in 74. I think I could get caught driving around in this, no problem...
oh baby baby It's got what looks like a sharp front end. Doesn't look like a little Camaro like the Vega did.(not that that was bad)Has a healthy stance. I'd gladly get one. Even the color carries some panache.
My folks had one in the early to late 1980's. A lot of cargo room and decent performance out of the 1.9 liter. The only drawback maybe was that it was a 2 door and was a little tough for passengers to enter and exit the back seat. It handled well and did not rust nearly as fast as a Vega would.
Funny thing about the Tech Center is that they had separate entrances for GM products only and a separate one for the others. The Opels and Isuzus had to be accepted into the prefered entrance, despite being made in foreign countries The European version, yes. Those 5 m.p.h. bumpers stick out like a sore thumb, though
Those German Opels were fabulous little cars. Funny thing about the stupid 5mph bumpers is that I often don't even notice them anymore. When I see an older pre-bumper car though I notice the svelte looks right away. mike
I can see eye to eye with you, on that. Those bumpers were indeed blunt and didn't have the sharp edges of the for Europe version
I really liked these when they came out. i was always trying to figure out whether the Open Manta 'coupe' front end (pictured) would fit on the wagon body....they're the same basic vehicle underneath.
