We've updated in the last few years. A few years ago, all the stuff in my house was in everyone's house. I dunno what happened! Sorry, but Earl and Randy are not for sale!
When I was in college, I rented an apartment from a turn of the century home. I had about $150 to spend on stuff for the apt. Since I would be living there for a few years, I wanted it nice and homey. I already collect and mildly restore 8 track and '70s record players. So I have acquired some random '70s stuff. Well in town at college, there was a guy that dealt with second hand furniture. I walked it at the right time. He got all this '70s stuff from an estate sale, everything from a pea green recliner, a yellow couch (like the one on That '70s Show) and also a whole bunch of the accessories with it (lamps, pictures, etc). $100 and loaded up my wagon, off I went. There was some furniture and a harvest gold fridge already in the apartment. So everything went together. I REALLY wish I had taken pictures of it. ALL of my friends felt it was a time capsule of 1978. And also seemed to feel conferable there at my place, some said it reminded them of their grandparents homes.
I get that, too. I love the homey feeling of the vintage goodies. Much of the things here were given to me by my parents. I like that, too because I've got reminders of growing up all around the house, such as my TV and my living room lamps.
Livin in the past I love it. You are living the dream of many of us who just keep buying this new crap. It'll never be an antique. It starts out as junk and ends up as junk. There are very few old things in our house---besides us! Still could use those two cats. We have a whole herd of wild ones livin under our pool deck. But they are not friendly. Keep on havin those Happy Dayz.
Thank you! And this stuff will outlast the new stuff. My parents are on their 3rd or 4th TV since they gave me that 1987 console.
is this a 'still going on' issue??? if so...you and I and CE/CP....are gonna have our own section in here to BS soon.. CE...you should see the bar and fugly swag lamps i got today
will do tomorrow....have the lights in the house...but the bars still in the car.. ..heres the country song im workin on... ...." im gonna build myself a bar in the back of my car... ....and drive myself to drink" the cameras charging as we speak
Driving to Drink That song sounds like a hit already. Add somethin about momma, prison, and trains, get one of those sexy young female country singers to do it, and you will make mill-- well dollars! Buy that looong wagon in Bend, Oregon and you can have a real honkytonk on wheels.
