On the other hand, there's a golden band (wasn't that a song way back then?) waiting for the young fellow that obviously over-rides his enjoyment of the truck. If you look at it as your saving it from some wing nut who is going to go beat it to death, living in the same town so he sees it deteriorate, then you realize that you did a good thing. And it isn't like you beat him up for the deal, he came to the conclusion himself that he needed to sell it for what he did. Now if you treat it the way you do your other stuff, should he ever happen to see it, he will know that all his effort was/is appreciated.

Glad it is as good as you hoped. When you show up with this one at home people are going to be taking second looks.

...and when he realizes that he made a mistake parting with it, he knows it went to a good home and maybe he'll be able to get it back in the same, if not better condition then he sold it...

It was difficult. I didn't have a happy feeling when I left. I truly thought he was going to have a panic attack. I text him my progress today and asked if he wanted to see some pics. He said no, I want to try to forget all about it. I did tell him to keep my number and call me in a year or whenever his circumstances change but made no promises that I would part with it. I wished him a great wedding and a happy marriage and went on my way.

Left Green River this morning and headed to Idaho Springs to meet up with Paul, a friend with an Eagle. The Eagle handled the drive there without any problems. My first tank was 15.2 mpg. I was hoping for better but seeing how it gets 1 less mpg than my other Eagle and has over twice the horsepower, more weight and much larger tires, I guess I can't complain. We didn't go wheeling very long. There was a lot of snow on the ground still and made it a little difficult to get to where Paul wanted to go. But still had some fun. Tomorrow, I'm headed to a friend's place in Greeley, Co. He used to own a 4x4 fab shop and is going to look the car over for me. Also, I'll see if he can give me some ideas of installing a much needed front sway bar. I'll be leaving Monday morning for TN. I'm already used to the power and wondering if a turbo is in order. :) I can't believe teh amount of smiles, compliments and questions I got today. I had to pop the hood a least 3 times to show people the engine. I may have to have a brochure printed out with it's details. ;)

The SX4 has Dodge Dynasty headlights and 87-93 Mustang tailights among other parts from various vehicles.

Those people replying over at Jalopnik are a bunch of tools.
I'm in Hays, Ks filling up on a Freddy's steakburger, dog and fries. Last 2 fillups were 18.8 and 18.7 mpg. Unfortunately, I found out it's not an LS1 from a Vette but a truck 5.3l with Ls1 intake and accesories. I'm not upset about it because it runs great anyways and now I can run regular instead of premium.. A small crowd formed around it when I pulled in Freddy's lot. I felt like a celebrity.
