It's amazing how all of the small details, which always make the difference between nice and exceptional, seem to cause the completion of a project to always be just beyond the horizon.

Got a whole bunch of little parts this week that the upholstery guys needed.
I took them down there this morning and before I left I had another list of things that I need to find or buy.
All you can do is laugh.

All of that aside, the 59 is almost done at the upholstery shop and that is exciting news.

It still amazes me how nice cars looked years ago. Now there seem to be three basic colors and styles, maroon, black, and grey.
I love the looks of the '59.:1st:

When I saw the '59 Galaxie convertible Jeff Spencer drove on 77 Sunset Strip a few months ago, I could see the grain on the vinyl. Ford's 1959 lineup was just spectacular, I've loved them since they were new. That's a sensation restoration, hope you enjoy it for years.

I know it's not a wagon, but I am so happy to see posts and updates on this beautiful project!

That is gorgeous and, more to the point, a big 'WOW' machine. If I can ever get my dad and I down your way, I'd like for him to see it in person. He's seen pics, says it's great, but I honestly think he'll be blown away if he were to see it 'completed.'

Thanks for your kind comments. It's certainly going to be an enjoyable car, that's for certain.
I dropped it off with the guy who did the paint and body work on it this afternoon. He's going to do a final cut and polish and fix a few spots that need some touching up. He's a young guy and more into fast cars, but he couldn't help but appreciate the 59. He said "This isn't really my thing, but man it is impressive! It has turned out amazing!"

If you think it looks good in the pictures you should see it in person. If you two ever get the time to head over to the "Dry" side of the mountains let me know. I'd love to show it to you.

Picking the 59 up from the upholstery shop on Friday.
I couldn't resist putting the top down.

It's dirty, and it still looks great.

    So, I messed up.
I was backing the car out of the trailer and scratched it.
I thought I was going to become physically ill.
I didn't even notice it until I had it out and was washing it.

    Ouch! (1).JPG Ouch! (4).JPG

I hit the inner fender. You can see where all of the paint scraped off and is lying on the floor.

    Ouch! (3).JPG

Good news is (if you can say there is good news...) is that it only caught the rocker, not the door. The paint guy is already fixing it. Says it won't be difficult. Just another few hundred dollars out of my pocket.

That sucks! But as you mention it could have been a lot worse. You most likely DON'T ant to hear this but..... You have to get the first scratch in it at some point, but now it's over.
