Thinking about turning my wagon into a nostalgic race car, always liked the looks of them. Whadda ya'll think of my photo-shopped wagon? (the red wheels would actually be the same color as the stripe)

    Not bad......
    Maybe one suggestion.....
Start the stripe at the front the same width and same positioning as the height of the side marker lamp bezel. Have it get wider as it goes toward the back, so it ends up being in the same position and height as the tail lamp bezel. Just a random thought....

Not sure if you've seen this actual Buick Estate Wagon that someone did as a 'Pace Car/Wagon Tribute......

It looks like an unraced derby car if that's the look you're after.

Krash, I put the stripe on last year, so I would be trying to work around it. I have not seen that pace car tribute. That is awesome!!(y)

Old Fox, my goal is the look of a 60's to 70's stock car, so pretty much... ;)

Also trying to come up with some simple graphics that I could paint on (by hand, that's how I roll) to make the car look a little sharper. Suggestions are welcome!

'Black out' the door window frames and upper center 'B' pillar (between the front/rear doors). See how it looks by doing one side with black electrical tape first, before painting. Use a 'satin' finish paint.

Ha! well... Not quite that look.. ;)
Red wheels are out, painted two and it looks awful! :yikes:  :slap: Will repaint them black tomorrow..

Krash, I like the electrical tape idea! (y)

This whole idea stared when I read a Hemmings post about an old race car called "Bonanza" someone found and restored...

I was building my 1955 Chevy wagon to be my semi custom mini van wannabe. I used flat black around all windows and window posts. That was in the late 80's.

You could do some graphics with a name. Back in the late 60's in my neck of the woods here in NE Pa, there were 2 race cars that were wagons.......one was called "the other woman" and the other was the "war wagon".

Way back when I lived in Iowa, there was a 66 Chevy fullsize drag wagon named Fat & Sassy

Yeah, like Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines in "Running Scared."
*looks at taxi-painted detective sedan* "Hmm. Something's not right. It's missing something." *Crystal hops in the car starts it, jams it in reverse and gooses the gas, crashing into another police car* "There! Now it looks right!"
