I am at a loss... WARNING: RANT

I just had some one look at the car and they really seemed interested in it. They also know a lot about cars and lets face it. I am in a situation where I have to sell a car with a few problems and I need some one who doesn't know much about cars. They took the car to O'Reilly's to get the computer checked and it showed up with the O2 sensors, which I knew about but hadn't mentioned, and they had them look up the cost of what was needed. According to this guy it needs both sensors replaced and there are 2 different kinds; an updraft and a downdraft. On is like $50 and the other is like $100... I'm thinking "Oh, great! I just lost the sale!" My wife won't go below $3200 and I had already gotten them to go as high as $3300. Now they know about that plus more than I knew to begin with. To top it all off they are concerned with a vibration that the car has had since we got it and no mechanic it has been too can figure out why it vibrates. They wanted to pay $3000, before we settled on $3300, and now IF they call back I'm sure that they won't go any higher than $3000, should they decide that they want the car anyways, and now my wife thinks that we lost the sale and it is my fault because I didn't start the price in the ad out at $4000!!! An now we are in even a bigger hurry to get out of this house because our landlord/roommate gave me a lecture this morning on how he has tried to be friends with us and not cause any problems with us but now he "has to set down some ground rules" because we never lock the doors [yes we do], we never turn off the lights [I'm the one that goes through the house and turns off unuesd lights], we always leave the fridge open [it happened once], and to make the whole things worse , get this, he can't stop us from having sex but we shouldn't do when he has company [the was empty when it started] and that we need to not be so loud when me and Zoe are getting it on! WE"RE NOT! IS HE LISTENING?! IT SURE AS HELL SEEMS LIKE IT! Once this car sells we are getting Zoe to a dentist, if we can, then we are finding a storage unit in Chicago to put our stuff in and we will live in a hotel room until we can get a place!!! No one deserves this. He went the the house and wrote on things with orders. The fridge reads "Shut the f****** doors or don't use, the stove: "Turn the f****** stove off or don't use, and wrote lock doors on all the doors and turn off on all the light switches! I have taken pictures of all of these signs. No one deserves this $4!t! Not my wife, not me, not our cats, which are scared $4!tless of him and his grandson. We are getting out of here one way or another. If I have to I will buy the damn o@sensors and put them on myself. I don't know how or where the heck they go but selling this car is our ticket out of this wretched, small minded sinkhole!

    I'm sorry...

I think I might have asked this before but does anybody know anything about 02 sensors? Where they are or at least where they should be? If its something that I could do on my own?

I'd just wait and see if those people do buy the Kia. If not, keep hoping for another buyer. Most don't bother going to a shop to have those things checked.

I have another looking at it tomorrow and he knows about the AC and the O2 sensors and he still wants to see it. Today was just a weird, bad day...

That's why it keeps breaking little pieces. It is trying to tell Xavier to fix it and take good care of it forever! :rofl2:

To be honest. If we didn't need the money and were able to move I just would keep it. I really do want a wagon but until that day comes I would be more than happy to keep my KIA. I have fallen in love with this car. Its a great car and it just needs a good home.

X, you do what you and your honey need, thats priority:)

If you don't agree, thats fine, all I'm asking is just think about it, OK?

You, me, everyone else will have depts and bills, The same for dreams and plans. You wanted to sell your car to get what you wanted. Now you only want to sell it to pay off dept and move, and have no car peroiud.

Gona be more of a hastle moving with no car. New city with no car...need I say more? No car will/can effect your dialy life more than you realize IMO. Buses, Taxis.... your car is cheaper than a taxi. simple things like shopping, loss of freedom because of it all.

I'd like you both to think twice before you sell the car, to not get another. I would keep your car, you know it, so rite now you are better off than buying said wagon because ya never know with some ones used car.. No suprises other than the SFP we all experience with our rides.

I really think getting rid of your car till some day is a wrong decition, X

You're not completely alone on that one Tedy. It is hard to know what to do... what is best...

Zoe grew up without a car and I grew up dependent on one. For her it is kind of like going home. Almost. When up there a transport pass is only $30 for me because I'm disabled and for Zoe it will be $90. For any bus or rail.

However, there is a chance that e will be able to get the money we need to move before we sell the car... Which means we may just sell it up there or keep t and pay double for insurance and maybe parking garage fees... I'd rather the latter because I'm scared to be without a car. Just thinking about not having one and I miss cleaning my own and taking care of it. Driving is one of my last freedoms... Zoe knows all of this, but doesn't understand what it is like...

In the end I have to do what is best for my family and sometimes the choice makes itself... And sometimes it is just going to suck royal sh!t. This fact I know and understand all too well. I also know that Zoe and I always some how find a way to make it work in the end.

Waaaay back in 1970 / 71 or so, I was driving a '66 Corvair Corsa. I was going to community college in Santa Monica, worked in Westwood Village (near U.C.L.A.), and lived in West LA off Santa Monica Bl. I decided I wanted to save up for a better car, instead of the inexpensive ones I had up to that point. The only way I could do that was to be 'carless' for a while. Sold the Corsa and used the old Schwinn (and sometimes the bus) to get around. Got a real good workout, but after having my own car, it was really inconvenient. Had to plan out a week or so in advance, couldn't just 'drop by' anyone's place because it took so long to get anywhere.

Well frankly, I got real tired of that grind. The experiment lasted maybe 3 months, and I hadn't saved all that much. Ended up buying a '65 Dart.

Point is, think real clearly before selling the car. What places are you going to go to regularly, and how convenient is it to get there? There are options - for some special trip out of town, you can always rent a car. Public transportation of course, but how far do you have to walk after the bus drops you off? Are your legs in good shape? Bicycle? Motorbike?

Bicycling is not an option for me. On the bright side, it is looking more and more like we are keeping the KIA.
