Sonic @ St. Peters Weekly Cruise.

 

Wow Jack. Nice cars. Glad St. Louis area car scene is robust. Loved the ‘66 T-Bird, also loved the Guardsman blue ‘64 Galaxie. I have a 4 door in that color. I call her Thelma Lou. She just got new shoes.

 

Nice! Today we went down to steelville, cuba and st james. Pictures later. Most of the pictures above were from Valley of Flowers celebration in Florissant.

Maramec Springs State Park. Water was cloudy due to recent rains otherwise it’s clear as can be. This our breeding ground for trout. It was also a foundry.

The Wagon Wheel Motel is on Route 66 isn't it?

 

Yes. It’s in Cuba, Mo. It looks like it is still up and running. It is on old 66. It’s not far off of interstate 44 at the Cuba exit. There’s still a drive in theater I think. Cuba is called mural city. There’s a nice long wall mural for background that people photo their cars against.

 

A fellow I follow on the you-tubes has stayed there within the last year. He likes to stay on old 66 and off the interstate. That's the only reason I know of it.

 

there are a few of those in this section of 66. One of the best family trips ever was from STL to the mid point and Cadillac Ranch with my wife and two daughters.

 

I don’t know if it’s bragging rights, or because New Mexico doesn’t have a huge interstate budget, but we boast of being the state with the most still used portions of Route 66. As a matter of fact in June we are doing a driving tour from Gallup to Tucumcari, mainly on Route 66. Spending the night at the Blue Swallow Motel. Looking forward to it.

 

Might as well push on to Adrian. That’s mid-way. The diner there is the inspiration for Flo’s in the movie Cars. Flo sold out and moved next door. Sally is in Stroud Oklahoma with ‘Ol Bessie.
