Considering every car I have bought since 1984 has been at least the size of your wagon, it is not unusual for me to have to parallel park. That space had ALL kinds of room. Try it with no more than a foot and a half on either end!

Unloved I like your stories. It really is amazing what happened as kids.....And most of us survived.
Our kids liked riding behind the seat in our VW beatles. I threatened at times to put them up front in the trunk. :yup:

Our last son, adopted after I bought my 1977 Corvette, had his own custom made seat behind and between the two bucket seats in the Vette. The T-Top storage retainers became his seat belt attachment points. When he outgrew the Vette I sold it.

I only remember a few times parellel parking with my 55 Chevy wagon. With wide tires and without power steering it is not fun.:(
Pinebox my grandma could have parked in that space in one try and she was half blind, crippled, and old.

I got my first horn honk today on my way home from work. A couple of young guys in a PU passed me on the highway, they made a slow gradual pass and gave me a honk while the passenager checked out my Lil Sis.

I think it was a honk of approval and not a "get that POS off the road" kinda honk.

    Cool

My kid used to do that with his friends. Pay good money to bury their trucks in mud and tear them up! I guess it's a redneck thing!
I've always tried to avoid snow, sand and mud!

Went through a drive-through last night to pick up some dinner. Young gal at the window said 'I like your station wagon - it's the wood." Then she pointed out her vehicle parked a short distance away...... it was one of these (in white, with the wood):

    It looked practically brand-new.
