    Maybe, maybe it was me fooling around with steel wool that has made pins leek between each other, thanks to steel wool splinters in the plug …? Well, I guess I have to clean it all again and see.

    Yes, when using steel or brass wool or a steel or brass bristle brush, always check for pulled-out shavings or bristles.
