Couldn't Air adjustable shocks be used in the rear, I have them, and it wouldn't help in an unexpected situation, but if you know you're going on a long trip and may encounter places with inclines and bumps and such, could you not fill the air shocks up and away you go? I adjust mine if I feel like more of a muscle look or more of a tail dragger look.

(1)so he's got Pontiac tail-lights on his Olds. That makes it a custom, doesn't it?Well, not THAT custom, but unique,to say the least.(2)My Colony Park comes with rear airshocks. It doesn't have a trailer hitch,so I'm thinking it's all about the floaterboat ride..Will have to check up on them. The rides gotten a little rough since I got them replaced by Discount Tire Centers.Had to go back and have them reconnect the bottom of one of the front shocks to the car.Might have to inspect all their work...If you have a Discount Tire Center in your town and it does better work, then good for you.:yup:

Well, T...you are better off doing things yourself OR with a guy you know and trust to be a good mechanic. Going to Sears, WalMart or any of the discount joints that have kids working on your car is always a risk.

After a drawn out bad experience with an AAMCO,we found a local shop to do our tranny work. When City vehcles break down, they get taken to this one shop...And Pep Boys wasn't much better...I've done the shocks all around thing before, and had been thinking about it again, but decided on them doing it,because I'd never dealt with airshocks before. We're planning on keeping the Colony Park a long time,a Chilton book or one of those factory books will probably be next on the list of things to buy...It's getting to the point where only dealers are going to be able to work on even older vehicles.Much less newer ones. It's like "they" are working really hard at running mechanics out of business.Pretty soon,it's only going to be us who CAN work on our cars.Nobody else is going to know how.

A dealer is as bad or worse than those I previously mentioned. And...get the FACTORY SHOP manuals for your car. Nothing else is comparable. Get them used on ebay for a good price.

They only make enough money to screw up the industry, not build cars that last. They got some kind of ruling from either your DOT or EPA to not sell the chip license to 3rd parties or non-factory dealers last year, so yeah, smaller shops are being pushed out. You won't be able to tune your new GM at home from 2009.:banghead3:

That is the only way to go. Even Chilton's doesn't cover or describe the Automatic transmission codes for mine. They do decent detail on Standard trannies. So you wouldn't know if yours was an Interceptor/utility tranny or grannies slush-o-matic. Only the Factory manuals have that info.:thumbs2:

Factory SHOP manuals. Usually come in a set of 2 or 3 or 4 big books. Sometimes only one. Be sure to get the whole set...I have found ebay to be the best place. Check all the sellers...I had one guy I dealt with all the time but I forgot his name. He used to send me library copies...clean as a whistle!
