    I'm not exactly sure what all the requirements are,but there are plates that can be got in California,for Historical Vehicles.AND,I've seen a few on 60's cars...The only California plates you can transfer from car to car,are the personalized plates.And "they" prefer it if you get new plates when you buy an old car.You have to ask special to keep your old plates. Although,there are still some California cars rolling around with the now ancient black plates with yellow numbers/letters on them.And some of the blue and yellow plates too...The vast majority are the white with dark blue numbers/letters,now though.
