I've had belts torn/thrown because of a bad harmonic balancer.
    IIRC, the 307 has a two-piece balancer.
Take a good look at it and make sure the outer ring has not shifted or slipped.

Well, I had the same belt fail again! :banghead3::cry:
I replaced it, and now I have a spare with me in the car. I'm only a couple days from home, and when the belt is on, everything works, so I'm just going to press on and get home, then try to deal with whatever is happening. Whether it is a pulley out of alignment, or a burr on a pulley, or whatever.

    Hi all,

Sorry for the delay. I did in fact make it home safely.
It seems that what may have happened is that I was given the wrong belt...twice...by two different autozone stores... :banghead3:
I asked for belt number 15555, and it looks like both times I was given belt 55515.
The third belt I picked up was the correct number, and so far, it hasn't given me any trouble.

Thank you all again for all the help!

Wow. I've never had received the wrong belt because the VatoZoneJob was dyslexic or otherwise functionally illiterate. Glad to see you got the right one, finally.

I have. Biggest problem is the computer has the wrong info or the kid runs to the spot on the shelf it's *supposed* to be and grabs whatever they have there and hands it over. I asked for an AC compressor belt once and received an air pump belt from who knows what, it was only 9" long and I asked the guy if he had any clue what this was for because it wasn't for the car I was working on. He just shrugged and said his computer told him to use that.

That's the problem with using people who don't work on cars or otherwise know what's under the hood.
