Will the Lincoln MK VII parts work? I know of one 2-dr. That 1993 TBird is still out there. As is the 1996 Cougar. Our sunlight doesn't fry it as bad as the southern CA sun.

Anyway, my wheels are down for 2 or 3 days, with the HVAC out, and some other final details. Let me know if these parts can work or not, then I can zero in, when I go.

No, only 83-86 Tbird and Cougars for the window mouldings (dew wipes). The rubber is part of the trim that's why they are $211 for the outers only at Steele Rubber. Green Sales and a Ford dealer did a world wide search and came up empty.

The window tracks seals can be 83-88 Tbird and Cougar and MKVII.

I'm going to check the JY probably Friday for MKVII's.

I did check my 92 Tbird for compatibility and they are not even close. The trim style changed in 87 so that's why the dew wipes from those won't work.

I'm also amazed at the various hiding places for dirt. Under every bit of trim around the windows was completely packed with dirt. Also under the two metal strips on the rear part of the roof. The only things external that I still need to remove is the tail lights, door locks and handles, grill and headlight bezels. I haven't touched the interior yet. I'll be running out of storage room soon....no basement at my house.:taz:

We've got some of those cougars here too. 1984 that I got my analog clock from is still there and those doors looked ok. Well you let me know. I'll get my car running, and check it out later this week.

I may have stumbled on the mother load of rubber for my Tbird. A Lincoln MK VII with very soft and pliable window tracks. I'm hoping the dew wipes are as good. It was on the top of the pile so it was hard to cop a feel as the window were up an inch.:D

Well there's nothing left to remove! the car is stripped to the bare body. Only the dashboard remains....for now. It's such a pleasure not having rust. Now the sanding can begin. I'm contemplating changing the interior color. The seats (rear) are faded worse than I thought. The rear shelf material is only held together by electrons I think. I had to very carefully lift it out so it wouldn't disintegrate. I did find 39 cents. :D

Is that Lincoln that you found a good source for interior parts?

It is but I didn't get a look at it as it's on top of another car. Pretty much the Lincoln MK VII interior can be swapped in to a 83-88 Thunderbird. Almost the same car. The chassis is the same.

The 1996 Cougar beige interior is good too.

I found out what's wrong with the passenger door lock. The solenoid is disconnected from what it's supposed to be connected to. I'll compare with the left side. No wonder it just chatters.:D

I think its a motor. Any Ford car from 1979 and up to 1990 will fit. The relays go too, but you'd want one from a 1981 to 1987 4-door ford/merc. Earlier ones were the metal can type and went inside the passenger kick panel. Your relays are probably under the hood.

I reupholstered those 1985 Lincoln Signature sunvisors with the velours centers from the 1982 Zephyr seats - just thick enough to snap into the outside grip edges. I'll take pics today. Very happy with the results. :thumbs2:

They're deeper than most Ford visors - 8" vs. 7" and that is the cat's meow for our flat prairie. When the sun starts coming down and you're driving into it, these things get you just enough shade to see the road.
