So would the 78 caprice wagon be the larger wagon. My grandparents had it because it was the companies and then they bought it. He had it until 92 but the body started falling apart. It had the 305. They also had a 81 Impala wagon but it didn't have the third row of seats.

Thanks for all this information about these things. I really enjoy weird things and numbers are one of them. What I really want is the 72 custom crusier with the 455. We had a Buick Electra 225 with the 455 and that thing was awsome. For 4200 pounds that thing would fly. It was the 70 with the 370 horse power. They dropped the power in the early 70's but I don't remember what year.

No, the 78 caprice wagon is in the 4 generation "Boxy" era, 77-90, and is between 215-220 inches long. the 72 custom cruiser along with other 71-76 "clamshell" wagons are 231 inches long, and are the biggest and heaviest wagons made, reaching up to 5,300 lbs.

Here is a scale picture chart showing the size comparison to the 5 generations of GM B-Body wagon between 1962-1996

    the sizes are as follows:
    62-64: 210" length,
    65-70: 215" length,
    71-76: 231" length,
    77-90: 215" length,
    91-96: 217" length.
