    Once the rust has tacked up, its time to give it a coat of semi gloss black and also gloss blacks.

    Again, a roller in one hand and a bunched up rag in the other, the paint is applied and the rag is rolled over the wet layer to blend in and remove the extra at the same time. The semi gloss and gloss are randomly put over the surface after a partail reduction to allow it to be thinner. Even distribution of paint isnt wanted here, just enough to deaden the under colours. Stay out of wells and away from high spots.

    a light scuff with a brillo pad where the silver was placed brings out the worn areas.

    So that kinda brings it up to where it is today.

    I've been busy focused on the 57 Ford wagon so she's taking a bit ofa rest. I've added a couple things though that will keep with the Tiki theme.

    a rad ornament..

    roof racks...

    And a friend is making me 2, 11 foot long boards which will make up the greatest coverage for the roof. It should look something like this...

    They should look something like this;

    Like I say, Oddball all the way. And just plain fun to build with no limitations or rules to follow. I call it colouring outside the lines. :tiphat:

    Wow. It takes as much work to "fake" old as it does to do a show paint job. Nice, it really looks old.

    I'm afraid the bamboo won't keep the rain out though.:evilsmile:

    The engine is an AMC 327. You can tell because AMC was the last to use vacuum wiper motors, and the brake cylinder indicates 1967 or so (dual pot).

    Lots of work, looks like fun! I have never been much for "fake patina", though, sorry.

    Nice work!:bowdown: I did the Roller thing on mine. I saw the Tremclad, and figured you were in Canukistan. The Wet Coast even!

    Is that bamboo from an Ikea blind?;)

    Amazing how good the roof 'frame' is.

    Love your mancave. Lots of light from the garage doors.:wave:

    the drivetrain came from a 65 ambassador. I just love writing "327 big block", just makes me chuckle.
    There's a logo that will go on the rear panels that should take a way from the paintina a bit. I agree with you, i do like the real thing much more but i didnt want to paint this one a real colour.
