    Nice 68 Colony Park

This is really nice. This is the exact model that a neighbor had that I fell in love with. I have been in love with colony parks ever since. Yours is absolutely beautiful. Congratulations, and I can't wait to see more pictures of your work of love.

Below is a picture of my 1987 with 48K miles on it. Midnight Blue with Navy Blue interior.

The 1968 model year is what got me hooked on the big Mercury wagons too. No surprise that I should end up with a Colony Park after all those years. Nice work!

Well, it's been a few weeks of the hot FLA sun and the headliner looks much better. I still have to do some minor adjustments, but it settled in enough to make me feel comfortable installing the lights and sun visors. I also got all the interior panels finished up and bought some blue carpeting to make a protective mat for the cargo area. Today I decided to install new front springs and it was no easy task. However, it was well worth the effort as it made a world of difference in both the stance and ride. While doing the springs I noticed that the brakes were in need of replacing, so I ordered a new set of pads which I will be installing soon.

I must say that although I have several other cars, some finished and some on-going projects, this car seems to be taking all of my free time. I just can't get enough of it. There is just something very special about these old wagons. I have even made it a point to watch as many sixties movies as I can just so I can spot these old wagons in action. Somehow I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.

Yes, I too watch old movies and TV shows just to see the cars.
Always more fun when the movie is good and theres lots of cars shown. Disappointing when the movie sucks and you find theres no good views of any old cars in them. Then theres the movies that leave you torn. Great old cars but the movie sucks. Bought a VHS tape once of the movie Brewster McLeod because it was filmed in 1970 and had some great footage of a 70 Road Runner, and even incudes a long chase scene involving the brand new Road Runner, a new 1970 Camaro, a new 1970 Gremlin X, and a 1970 Fury police car. Turned out to be the worst movie I've ever seen. Loaned the tape to one friend who loves 70 Road Runners. He watched it and next time I saw him he threw the tape at me and asked me what he did that was so bad that I subjected him to such torture. I thought he was kidding, but didn't want to see the movie again myself. Gave the tape to another friend who had a Road Runner just like the one in the movie. That was 9 years ago and he hasn't talked to me since.
So, be careful of what you watch just to see the cool vintage cars.
The only thing I've ever seen with a 68 Colony Park wagon in it was a two part episode of Hawaii 5-0 when Magarret visits family on the mainland and uses their wagon to get around.

That's a funny story right there Jim. A lot of the late 1960's biker gang movies have some really neat cars. Most of those movies are nearly unwatchable, but I love to see the old cars, especially the VWs. The Mini-Skirt Mob,cir 1968 has a Colony Park in it. But given your story, let me make it clear that I am NOT recommending the movie.:)

Oh wait, I CAN recommend The Thomas Crown affair, with Steve McQueen. Early in the movie he instructs a guy to go buy a Ford wagon "the kind with the wood on the side". It's a Ford Country Squire.

And McQueen drives a 68 Country Squire in "The Getaway", a nice follow up to the 67 Country Squire in "The Thomas Crown Affair".
