That must be stressfull to think that all those boys wanted to marry your daughter, just to eventually inherit your car I get angry, every time my brother in law wants to borrow my wife's wagon. The chowderhead used to own a wagon and his recent purchase was a demo vehicle from an Opel dealership. His reason for not opting on another wagon is that he doesn't need such a large vehicle, despite everyone advising him to the contrary. So now, he's got a fastback which fills up fast, each time they take a trip anywhere. Now, they went and bought a sofa There are also other issues. One of them is borrowing money from the inlaws to go buy a house in his hometown in Argentina. He isn't including his wife, on the title. Serves her right, though
The best story I have from driving the wagon was from this Christmas. To set the stage, I had the car (81 safari wagon) loaded up with all our suitcases, and had stuffed the presents for the 3 different family Christmases in the back, wherever they would fit. What that meant though, was that all you could see in the back and side windows were wrapped presents. So, the back is filled with presents, I've got my wife beside me, and my 2-year old and my 2-month old are in the backseat. Since it was the holiday season, after all, I was wearing my Santa hat while we drove the 4 hours north. About 1 hour into the trip, we hit a snowstorm, although it's not too bad, so I'm driving a little slower, in the right lane. As we're going, We're coming up on a Semi going a little slower than I, and a car come zipping up and passes in the left lane. Just as I was about to get over into the left lane behind them to pass this semi, the car slows down, considerably, and falls back to almost behind me again, then starts accelerating again to pass. I'm annoyed at this point, because I'm getting close to the semi and want to go around it, and this joker beside me can't make up his mind about how fast he's going. As they draw even with me, I look over, and it is a car of 4 adults, all of them looking over at us, smiling, giving big thumbs up, and one of them has her phone out recording a video of us! While I don't have people taking video every day, I do get thumbs up, smiles, and "Nice car!"s almost every day I take it out. I was sitting at a stoplight on Friday, when a middle aged woman next to me honked, rolled down her window and told me she "loved my car" and gave me a big thumbs up as she drove off.
I love these stories. Makes me want to go out and buy an old car. Only thing is I really am older than all my cars. Except the 39 Ford. We were born together.
Thanks guys...these are all pretty much what I expected to hear. TO answer some of your questions, I really want a 80's Olds Custom Cruiser (or similar box style) as I love them. OH well we'll see what happens in the future. Thanks
Good luck Crank. Hold out for what you really want and the best one you can find. It will be worth it in the long run.
My son ( 15 ) brought some of his friends home from school To look at my Camaro project ,, he told me they all Thought the wagon sitting next to it was SWEET So there's still hope for the next generation !!
