Interesting, that they test the brakes, but I don't see what the test measurement is, unless it's something arbitrary.

It's nothing arbitrary. They have this set-up to where each axle is driven up to a pair of rolling drums which speed up each wheel of that axle. The inspector then applies the brakes and this machine somehow measures each wheel brake's capacity in the torque spec listed. The I-pad of sorts he's holding doesen't apply to my car, because it doesen't have ABS. Otherwise, anyone with ABS could cheat the test

All struts and shock absorbers failed, according to what's circled

These goofballs who make a living falsifying safety inspections even post themselves on facebook, as if no legal retribution can ever touch them

I ordered the spring. But, got the bolt and a rubber bushing. It seems, the spring is no longer available. Probably, because it's subject to breaking. I had the bolt, already. It's getting difficult finding persons to deal with who pay attention. Oh, well. I guess, it's better than not getting anything at all

You may be able to still get the dust boot, as a generic part, same as what Dorman sells in their 'Help!' section. But at least the bolt came with a bushing; usually, that's what's missing, and made of Unobtainium.

The dust boots were surprisingly still good. If I had known that the springs were updated to rubber, I could have gotten them over the counter for other Japanese makes

This is what it looks like, now. I used to braze such holes shut. But, I don't have my torch over here. Will try to get one somewhere, though. Circled in white are just a couple of spots where touch-up paint would do. I've never used lead as a filler. I wish I had learned it. But, back then, our shop teachers seemed too young to have ever learned it themselves. I don't like Bondoing over this kind of work, not knowing if these seams are properly sealed

At the rear, touch-up will also do. Circled in white is a spot done by one of the previous owners. In front of the wheelwell is where itv also just got welded shut

One of these shop owners back here in our industrial zone bought a brand new 3 axle all-drive truck from the following manufacturer. It has a copper color of which I would paint my car, if I had the opportunity to do so. I think, it's the same color this semi-tractor's painted in

I just added a rear cigarette lighter, so that I could run a camera, portable fridge or other plug-in accessories. I'll leave a second cable available, for when I get a rear map light. To mount the lighter socket, I needed a 22 mm spacer ring which is commonly found in hard drives. This one happened to be equipped with a 25 mm. But, the trim panel is easy enough to remove, once I get the right ring. I'll take a fresh photo showing the socket with the ring installed, later on today

I'll have to drive to my former place of residence where my favorite electronics outlet carries the mini-Torx screwdrivers required for disassembling a HDD using 22 mm spacers. Here's how it looks with the 25

I took time out for souping up my old battery charger. It started smelling like overheated electronic gadgets. So, I decided to ventilate it at the bottom and add a computer fan at the top. It's held in by screws. The silicone caulking only serves to seal it from falsely recirculating air

    Bat_Charg.jpg

I added a switch I found in my switch box. This will keep it from activating at the plug and socket

    Bat_Charg_2.jpg

I've added a switch and a socket for an external batterie for when the camera's to run uninterrupted for days at a time. When the switch is flipped pointing to the three-pronged socket, this means that the car's battery is disconnected and the remote one connected. Both will share common grond wiring, since there's no reason for having separate ones

    Steckdose.jpg Steckdose_2.jpg

I harvested a domelight from a VW Polo, a few days ago. Since there was no rear lighting, I added this to the side panel. There wasn't enough room on the roof's rear or upper side panel, for mounting it, unfortunate for me. This will have to do

There has been a change in plans. I got hold of another VW courtesy light which fits, when I junk the dimmer electronics. This one had the controls to an electric-powered sunroof also. I simply junked the innards of that control and glued (not yet shown) the control buttons onto the unit. I'm also going to remove all electronic bits from the plate and simply connect what's to be connected with soldered onto the board wire

I glued the buttons for the phantom sunroof together and, as you see, put the entirety together, with the eception of the circuit board. once it's all connected, it'll be mounting time
