    pacer wagon

While reading the posts and being a guru of AMCs, Ramblers, for 42 years and the owner of the Pacer wagon ( 500" caddy).
    Kindly offering some foot notes.
The Pacer was not offered in 75 or 76 in a wagon. 77 was the first year and almost outsold the coupe each year after til 1980 ( only 3 months production of 1980 models). AMC was gearing up for the 1980 EAGLE.
The Gremlin was not a wagon! The Hornet series offered a Sportabout 4 door wagon.
Gremlins in 72 til 76 could be bought with the V8 304, in any trim level as separate line item.. ( 327 was Rambler V8(1957) 5 yrs before chevy).
The 401 Gremlins ( around 30 built) came from Randall American dealership in AZ.. @ $2995.
The Pacer door on the pass-side was 4" wider.
And last the Big Bad Green Javelin ( prod was 283) also offered in Orange and Electric blue. very low production. Thanks for reading Phil

Not to side track this topic but you will probably like these pics. You might even know Terry of www.ramblerranch.com . Here are some pics I took of his place during an Eagle meet we had a little over a year ago. http://photobucket.com/ramblerranch

Thanks for that link to the AMC museum, that's incredible!

My favorite is the '82 Eagle Sundancer Convertible, super, super rare too!

I just wish they had better close up PICS and descriptions but then there would be no reason to go to the museum, right!

304 was the Gremlin V-8. 327 predates the Gremlin.
A friend had one with a three speed on the floor that made believers of more than a few "hot" cars.

    those engine sizes

American Motors caught a lot of flack I don't think they really deserved.Their reputation was the lowest ball in Detroit.Sometimes they copied, sometimes they were copied. That 304 you mentioned, had been America's first 302,back in the mid-60's.The 327 was first made by Pontiac, for it's pick-up truck;the 1947-49 Apache(Yes,I know, that's a Chevy model, but not until the 50's)and some of it's larger cars. The Pontiac 327 became a popular swap engine. The pick-ups came with four on the floor transmissions, they were popular swaps too. Both AMC and FoMoCo had 390's(GM,as you know, had several engines around that size) I still see old AMC's and Ramblers rolling around Southern California. There's even a fix-it shoppe with a Rambler wagon for sale in Hollywood. One has to wonder;if they were such crappy cars brand new,why are so many of them still around?;)

    hoowee!!!

That sounds like a theme pak ride!..And,lest we forget,in The Man With The Golden Gun,most every car was an AMC.And it was an AMC that did that mid-air victory roll. What I consider to be Bond's and one of movie's greatest car stunt.
