I'll bet all the young people thought you had it made in the service with those luxuries.

The old diesel boat guys used to say we were spoiled, what with the hot showers and 2, sometimes 3 hours of sleep in a row... :)

Back on topic: there's a guy around my city who has one of these in unrestored condition. Not a wagon, but a Playboy convertible. It's pretty cool. He found it in a barn and drives it to local shows and events.

Seems like we've seen one or two around NE Florida at car shows.

So I just read through these posts, some were somewhat disturbing , on the Playboy wondering what they were:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playboy_Automobile_Company

My mom attended University of Illinois the same time Hugh Hefner was there............she didn't know him, but then there were about 50,000 kids there at the time.

CatMan: I've been on that German U boat at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry you mentioned, U-505 I think. They had a working coal mine at that museum when I was there too.

Yes. When living in central Illinois we went to that museum and others in Chicago many times. Love the coal mine. Even took our adopted son once while we lived/live in Florida.
I heard rumors your mom was a Playboy centerfold back in her college days.

The downfall of the Playboy automobile was scrap chicken parts. Seems like the people of Buffalo were more interested in inventing and eating some new kind of chicken wings.

Thanks Mike for the information on the submarine.

Does anyone know at what point in time Mother Nature proposes to decommission Mr. Hefner, if not already done?

I remember when his daughter took over the business. For some reason Hef is in control again. Amazing how a girlie magazine turned into such a profitable and famous venture.
    Where did I go wrong?

Glad we are still on the Playboy topic. Maybe if Ernie Hemmings had a centerfold he'd sold more car magazines.
