I have always purchased 30 days unlimited for $39.99. The price may have gone up a little but you should still be able to get the 30 day unlimited deal.

OK....I just checked their site, too. You are correct...they changed the pricing and I think the pricing now is highway robbery! 5 for $45 is too much as far as I'm concerned. They just lost a customer. IF a car is at a dealer, though...you can ask THEM for the Carfax.

Lots of people use autocheck. I believe Carfax is superior. I don't use autocheck because they leave some things out that Carfax has. I always used Carfax when I had my car lot and even after that.

It's all years. The design is the same and once the weatherstrip deteriorates, it just happens. My 86 is the same way. It takes me about 15-20 minutes now. One screw (on the inside handle), pop out the "christmas tree" fasteners on the upholstery panel, remove the inner cover panel (5-6 screws) and there's the connector.

Without a doubt, I'd go for the Chevy, eventhough I couldn't find how many miles are on it. He didn't say so, but I think the seller's dad may be the original owner. New Jersey discontinued those blue plates years ago and replaced them with the gold ones that they had had previous to the blue ones. By the way, based on the Olds' plates starting with a "Z", that indicates he hasn't had it that long. The Chevy looks to be in better shape. I know the Olds has a 350 and the Chevy only has the 307, but apparently the motor and tranny on the Caprice are new.
IMO, definitely, ab solutely the Chevy.

Well...that's an interesting bit of detective work on those plates, snoot! Could be telling us something. Good job. I have a hunch about the cappy too.:D

SF, if you had to buy one of these two, which would it be? (I think I know your tastes and, as such, am pretty sure of your answer. Just wonderin')

Well, snoot...given HIS parameters it may be a toss up PROVIDING that both cars are on the same condition level. I don't like the Cappy box wagons as much as the Buicks but I still like those box wagons a lot. BUT, if the Olds is a runner and is in real good shape and the Cappy IS a one owner and in real good shape AND they were both loaded up....boy....a tough call. If it was just ME I would likely go with the Cappy. But, again, given his parameters, he may end up liking the Olds better. I DO like the looks of that Cappy and the history sounds good. It will be interesting to follow this if he, hopefully, drives both cars. I will like to see his reaction to the Olds ride. Problem is he is, admittedly, not a car guy.

I figured it'd be close, but that you'd go for the Chevy.

Wow, talk about irony. The Chevy wagon has a 307 Olds motor and the Olds wagon has a 350 Chevy motor.

^hahaha, wow that's funny about the engines.

Thanks for the back and forth guys, I appreciate the debate... I thought I liked the box Chevy's but that custom cruiser looks real nice, they're getting moderately rare as well right?

Yeah I hope I can test both and check em out, I called the guy with the cruiser but he hasn't called back... unfortunately yea I'm not a car guy... but, who wants to come with me? I'll pay half your plane ticket, haha.

Well, the cruiser has 179,000 miles but apparently runs excellent, and the chevy has 176,000 but the engine and tranny were replaced at 50,000. ahh, I'm bad at making hard decisions like this, I'm leaning towards the cruiser if all things seem equal but the chevy does seem like it might be more of a sure shot.

The Chevy had to get a new engine/tranny at 50000 miles. That doesn't seem right. Maybe the guy meant 150,000 or that he got them 50000 miles ago.
When are you going to check them out?

You just beat me to the punch, snoot. I was just going to question the replacement of an engine at 50K too. Although the Olds engine does have oiling issues they usually only plug up after more miles than that unless the oil was not changed regularly at reasonable intervals. Once sludge starts to collect in one of those engines there is always the chance that it will block the return route to the oil pan.
