Anyone have any good tire recommendations? Mostly looking for good winter tires, or offroad tires that could be used in the same weather.
I got a set of master craft strategy, they're probably mid grade, but the tread has held of well for two years, did good on the Ice last winter. I got them a couple of years ago so they may not have exactly that same thing. Gotta keep them white walls is the main thing!!!
I never really liked rubbers. One of the many benefits of marriage Seriously, I just couldn't help it! Good luck on your tire hunt.
I saw a recent TV ad about tires that are supposed to be good in snow. It showed a cute lady passing a guy who was sliding backward on a hill. I have a short attention span so I forgot what brand they are. It was on a TV ad so it must be true! About rubbers, when I was very young winter boots with metal clips to close the front and hold them on were called rubbers. I hated wearing those too. Check Goodwill or a junk shop for them. This all brings back some memories. My grandparents drove a Nash with big knobby wide white wall snow tires. After they traded cars grandpa gave me those snow tires. The rims were the exact same patttern as my 1957 VW Beetle. With the engine in the rear and tires like a farm tractor I could drive most anywhere that winter!
Rubbers...I have a story from high school that this reminds me of: Back when I was a junior (81-82 year), we had a New Zealander exchange student. He, of course, talked his brand of the Queen's English, so it sometimes became a problem when he asked for or about something, and had to get clarification on what he was asking. Well, one day, in Graphic Arts class, he turned to one of the gals (Julie Butterton, a very beautiful gal I had the hots for myself), and asked if he could borrow her rubber! The class erupted with laughter, to his bewilderment, and after choking down my chuckling, I told him that what he was looking for was an eraser. I then followed with "In America, a 'rubber' is a prophylactic." To which he had that 'Ahhhh' moment, and sheepishly asked Julie if he could borrow her eraser, then profusely apologized.
Yes! In fact you need to wear your rubbers when you go over or near Niagra Falls this week. Check your tires and make sure they are properly inflated for driving on American roads. Wear only boots that are made for walkin. Hopefully after each sunset the moon will rise and you have many more of both together.
