That is one really nice wagon! I am sorry she got dinged up.
It looks as if you certainly dodged a couple bullets.
Glad no one was hurt. Best of luck here on out.:whew:

Glad you made it home safely, and found home to go to! Sounds like that was one very close call indeed. Black ice, by the way, is one of the reasons I believe in having proper winter tires on any vehicle. They can make the difference between life and death. I do not, ever, mean an M+S rated tire. That 'mud and snow' means absolutely nothing. There are no performance criteria that must be met. For winter, only tires with the mountain and snowflake count. In some placed, like Province of Quebec, they are mandated by law.

I regard tractor trailers as incapable of sharing the road safely and try to stay the heck away. I thought maybe it was just in SC, but had to trek to West Virginia last week and just like clockwork you get one truck pulling into the left lane trying to pass another one on an uphill grade when much faster traffic is already in the left lane.

Thanks all for the well wishes, and I am sorry I did not make it clear but the retired couple next door did get out of their house thanks to the Son of the people across the street who woke then up and got them out.
They also took my wife and our Greyhounds in while the local FD did there work. And yes we were lucky the truck and car in the driveway did not go up in flames, I do believe they are both a total loss, The old Ranger is not worth repairing And the Taurus is only a year old so they may repair it, but the heat must have done in all the electronics under the hood.

Just starting to deal with the insurance Companies, so far the home owners has been OK, just getting ready to call Haggerty about the car.

Does anyone know if the later 80-90 Boxies spare tire well is the same as the 77-79? if so sheet metal will be much easier to find, fingers crossed.

To the best of my knowledge, all the box wagons used the same quarter panels for the entire run. What makes me suspect that is that any and all of the lights can be mixed and matched with no fitment issues. I believe the glass is the same, too, which would support that thinking. Good luck with getting everything back to rights! I'm so glad the people next door got out safely. Good thing the neighbour across the road was awake, or the outcome could have been tragic. A reminder that smoke detectors do save lives!

Glad to hear they got out safely. Oh yeah, those vehicles definitely got hot... VERY HOT. It looks like it was hot enough to start to melt the windshield in the truck. I would say 2 more minutes of that, they would have been blazing! That would have made it worse, as even more heat on your house.

I remember on Thanksgiving day... I think in 2008. In our city in a residential area we had an old abandoned wood working factory (huge building) catch on fire (believed to be set on accident by vagabonds living inside). It "melted" the siding (like it did on your house) on about 25 nearby homes where the heat was so intense... cars also looked like this. Thankfully none started blazing. I remember it was a very busy day for firefighters. It burned to the ground. Scary part is that it was less than 300 ft away from a propane gas company!!!

Man when it rains it pours! Just reading about this. As has been said, the main thing is everyone is ok. Things are things and can be replaced, people can't. Really glad you and yours are ok.

Sad to see the damage to the wagon, but the car itself looks great. If you have any parts issues, let me know. Glad to hit the Texas yards for you next time I can sneak away.

Thanks again everyone! I have been busy dealing with 3 different insurance companies, what a wonderfull experience, the initial estimate on our house is $41,000, the car is $4000, not including parts. But so far Haggerty is letting me choose the shop, and I am having a well know restoration shop in our area do the work, I think this car deserved that, they think they can repair the Rt Quarter panel, but the spare tire well will have to be replaced or fabricated. They think they can match the paint as it doesn't show much fading.
And the rear bumper will have to be rechromed as the tail pipe damaged it. I did not see it until it stopped raining yesterday. But so far so good.

And I am very greatful for my Blessings this last week. I no longer have any Family left in this area, but we are going to the inlaws Thuresday.
I always have fun sparing with my Retired Marine Gunny Father in Law, as I am Navy, and Come from a long line of Navel Vets. I will try to have fun and not take any of the ribbing seriously!!!! He always has good Beer, Rum, and the best sipping Tequila!

Wishing all a great Holiday weekend!!!!
