I am not sure if that was the wheel used in that car or not. The 1973 AMC brochure shows two different steering wheels for the Ambassador that year (see below)

one looks like the one this car has, but slightly different. That may not be original, but you know how AMC used alot of parts alot of different years. That car has the same steering column and wiper and headlight switches that my grandpas 76 Gremlin has and the same one that our old 76 Hornet and 81 Grand Wagoneer had. :)

**You also have to admit thats one of the nicest looking instrument panels in a 70s AMC. I like the ones in the Javelins too. The ones in the Hornets and Gremlins never appealed to me all that much.

not to mention amc "borrowed" parts from about every manufacturer in the usa. but amc was a great car company....just poorly managed. then the french got a hold of it...and ...well....chrysler put it out of its misery but, the big mistake they made was killing the eagle 4x4 and the jeep comanche

Jeep Comanches are THE BOMB !!! Have thought, for a long time now,a great fabrication would be to use a Comanche and a Cherokee to create a four door Comanche.:1st:
