Welcome to the forum! We also wouldn't mind if your wife drops in on occasion. We're (usually) polite! Based on your little Hupmobile, I think I'm safe in saying the Fairlane is going to end up being one B-uteiful wagon....... Marshall
Thanks Marshall,we hope to keep this project a lot simpler and more driveable. The beach lady says thanks.
We sold the Hupp a year ago.Its living in florida now.Im getting a little hesitant about the engine swap.A few more people think we should leave it original because of the 3speed o/d.I would not have purchased it to keep it original. My wife wants the 302.Should I sell it and do a different car?
I'd say sell this one only if you find another in nice shape you can modify. Other wise why not rip that drive train out and upgrade it? Seems like later engines and better brakes make a safer and more desireable car anyway.
What you may want to do is to save the pieces you take off the wagon, including the pedals since they can be difficult to source, and do what you want as a restomod. If you choose to, putting the old girl back to original is still possible that way. Personally, I love the restomod Concept, as the car looks pretty much bone stock, but mechanically it is updated properly. Me being me, though, I would stick with a carburetor car. I have never had good luck with fuel injection.
