I grew up with Ford wagons. My late father loved Ford wagons, especially the Crown Vic and Colony Park models. Yes, I know Colony Parks are under the Mercury brand. But they are all Fords to me.

My father always favored the Ford brand. His first was a Ford Mainline. Then he purchased a '56 Lincoln "for my mother" after they were married a couple of years. She rarely drove it. The first wagon came along after us kids -- a '61 Galaxie Country Squire, followed by a '63 and '65. The third row seat faced backwards, and we kids loved that. The back seats were folded down and the deck lined with blankets and pillows for us kids on long trips.

My favorite was a 1969 Torino that had a 351 with a 4 barrel carb and a responsive automatic transmission. I got my drivers license with that car. I stashed a couple bags of salt pellets in the "third row seat" compartment for ballast, and that car could run and handle as well as any GT. It was a sleeper that embarrassed more than one show off in their 2 door car with some horse's name -- especially during a flat out straight run. I wanted to take it to amateur night at the local drag strip, but I knew better than to ask my father to sign the release.

I went to college and the Torino wagon was passed down to my sisters. After that came a series of Crown Victoria and Mercury Marquis wagons. There are three in the garage now -- a '79 Marquis, and '88 Colony Park and '89 Crown Victoria. Pictures and more coming soon.

Welcome from a fellow Blue Blood. Have had a thing for Ford/Mercury/Lincoln since Dad's 1969 Fairlane Fastback 428CJ. :D
