I don't know if she is or not. She has a Dynasty with an Imerial front end. She has a V-6. I have to pull the one outa our old Minivan for her. Apparently it has more hp.
to the wagon train... Used to have an 86 Plymouth Reliant wagon...No,not exactly a looker, but a good solid little wagon. Once you get the drivetrain right. When we first got it,we were having problems with the tranny. Once we'd taken it to the right Tranny Guy(not named AAMCO)we really didn't have problems...Good luck with your "poer-up" project.
Thanks, I'm hoping all goes smooth. My Horizon was my first swap, then my Shadow convertible, and now this one. I have a new shortblock on the stand that was built for the Shadow but will now be parted to convert the wagon.
The 302 was a stock Mexican engine. Leaked like garden slug, but I blew it up, changing the carbie (dropped a bolt in the carb). This six is also a stock 200 cid with 85 HP. Runs great, only about 4,000 miles since factory rebuild at a Ford Dealer. But those I4's are hot little beasts, in a heavier Mustang, plus the MPG would improve in mine and/or an Escort wagon.
Yes, when you are working with worthless junk that only retains sentimental value its no biggie. The Horizon was a $300 beater that I built, beat on for a couple years, stripped all the turbo specific stuff for my GLHS and sold what I didn't need. Someone bought the shell because their turbo Omni was rusted out and mine was rust free. The Shadow I paid $450 for with a blown engine, bought a running turbo car for $500 swapped the engine and trans in. Now I'm pulling all thats valuable from the Shadow, swapping it over to the wagon and selling the roller either to somneone else to enjoy or to the scrap Gods. Hopefully the wagon won't share the same fate, but if it pisses me off or I get tired of it it probably well also. People in the turbo Dodge community will pay pennies on the dollar for a running car thats not rare, but pay a premium for the parts.
CC ! cool to have some outabox thunkin !! I know a guy that has a Caravan that runs in the lo 12's...dare to be different
There are quite a few vans being built right now. Theres one in Canada thats got a DOHC swap in the 12's, theres one in Wa in the 11's another one in UT I believe is in the 11's now as well. The wagons are a known but relatively unexplored platform so far. And a little more aerodynamic than a van shaped like a tool shed.
