I think I have this in the right spot, if not please move.

Long time lurker and now I am finally part of the club! Just put a deposit down on a 57 Country Sedan. She is straight out of the desert so only one spot of cancer that I can see. It appears all of the hard to find parts are there-minus the rad, eng, and tranny. Well, they threw in a 390 and the tranny needs to be rebuilt. So will be on the look out for a rad and probably C-4 tranny.

other than than that she will need the usual items rebuilt, brakes, suspension/steering and I am guessing fuel tank. Does anyone know where I can get factory power steering rebuilt?

    thanks,

    mike

Congrats! That is a fantastic looking wagon. I LOVE the 57's and I am quite partial to that particular paint scheme.
I can't wait to see the progress on this one.

Man that one really looks like one I had my eye on here in New Mexico. Good luck with it, and you’ll thank yourself a thousand times over for buying a good desert car. Interior gets thrashed, but body and chrome are really splendid, usually. As are the underneath carriage and parts. Good luck with it amd keep us posted!

Yep, the interior is pretty well toast-well the front seat anyways. The back seat has been down for a long time. So hopefully that is still good. The wood in the ‘trunk’ area is warped and probably toast as well. BUT, outside of one area there is no rust to speak of.

    Welcome and nice find.
Having grown up with my fathers pair of 57 Fords ( a 312 equipped Ranchero and a mild custom Fairlane hard top) you could say I'm partial to the style and a wagon would be a nice project.
And yes that yellow & white is a nice colour scheme.

A guy I know here in town owns a restoration shop (he's the one with the 58 Edsel Wagon) Anyway, I just stopped in there today and he has a two tone yellow and white 57 Ford 2 door hard top nearing completion. I should have snapped a photo. It's a beauty.

Thank you all. I am slowly unpanicking about how much effort and money this going to take. I actually wanted something I could start driving around relatively easily. Well not gonna happen with this car. But, it will be a fun project and it will be a father/daughter project to boot! Right now I am starting to line up all of the parts I am going to need-on paper. So that when I pick a system, I will have a rough idea where to get my parts. If I am lucky I can get her on the road in two years.

Orthman, please grab some picks if you get the chance. I am going to stay stock except for the engine at least. I don’t have a 292 to drop in her, just the 390. I will need some encouragement.

    Welcome Mike,
Love the '57 Ford wagons. As the other guys have indicated, the light yellow and white (Inca Gold and Colonial White) is the color combination of choice for that wagon for sure!

    You done good!
