    the volvo version of the airflow...same car...basically badge engineering with sheet metal differences. I like the volvo a lil better.

    Well(1)it WAS the era of stream-lining,to be more aerodynamic,not necessarily more fuel-efficient.Hence,all the teardrop shaped fenders of the time.And(2)it's named after what is probably the world's most famous beetle(bailey hadn't been invented yet)one that ended up in jewelry.In spots where rubies and sapphyres were supposed to go.AND,Egyptology was plenty big and trendy at the time.(3)Gimmicks sold cars back then,just as much as they do now.The shape,the rear-engine mount,the interiour layout.All gimmicks to sell the car...To rich and trendy Egyptology fans,who might want/need a fancifull trinket car to be a braggart about...You know,kind of like stationwagons nowadays.(y)
