the gov. woould sure appriciate it if i would buy the fiat and immediatly have my truck and buick crushed. i'll buy the fiat, but TiKi is one buick that is seeing a pampered 2nd half of her life! if they jack up gas prices to the point that i cant drive her even on the weekends....i'll put her into long-term storage till a reasonable alternative arises.

the sad part is, we have people in this country...working for the current administration. who have openly said that they want gas to reach european levels or higher. if not by oil prices then by taxation.
"this will force people out of thier cars and into public transport".
ok well lets forget about forcing costs for businesses higher. i dont know how much more my company is gonna take before we start shutting down routes. i put almost $200 per day into the fuel tank of my truck!
you figure, across 7 trucks and you have my docks fuel expense!

    Fuel & Truckin

Thanks for the note. I was one of those trucker types too. That's where I got CB handle Model T. In most forum sites I have to add CAT because someone beat me to it! Cat was who I worked and drove for.:bouncy: For many years we camped as often as possible. I noticed camping and motel/hotel fees went higher and higher. Along with fuel, etc. I believe we po folks were crowding out the rich folks. So raise prices on everything, cut jobs and saleries, and give those rich dudes a raise and all is well! Less po folks gettin in their way. But I was wrong once before.:rofl2:

What those rich people and oil tycoonies (and their minions) don't realize (or don't care) is that by choking the poor they are really choking themselves. I'm not against have tons of money [who is really] I just don't agree with what is done with it sometimes.

In our province(Nova Scotia) someone in an office somewhere, decided that the price of gas would be cheaper in the urban centre(Halifax) and would increase a few cents a litre the further away you get from Halifax. The reason given, was the cost of delivering the gas to the stations outside of Halifax would of course be more then in the city.
While this may be true I believe that if they want to encourage more urban dewellers to use public transit, which is not available outside of the city, then perhaps the gas prices should be more in the city.

    It's a Gas!

We live in a small town where one man owns all but a few gas stations. He also owns the truck that brings the gas. We pay more here in tiny town USA than those people in the big city with a special added city tax! It's the American way which is also the Canadian way!

how much do you think it costs to explore and find new wells?
then drill the wells. and install a pumping head? (mind you that most new wells are 2 miles down on the ocean floor)
transport the crude to a refinery?
then to the termials, then to the stations?

now, lets compare this to a gallon of milk.

we know where the cows are.
we can breed more cows if demand rises.
the cows are usually on a farm near or around the city that the milk is sold in.
most milk is processed on or near the farm.

    look here!

    oil is actually ranked #60.
im not saying i want high gas prices nobody on here does.
but when you consider that when the oil companies make "record profits" they have to sink most of it back into the ground so to speak.

if you figure an offshore oil platform costs 400 million to build.
then you have to tow it on site. either by towing it or using a company like dockwise to lift it and sail out to location.

then you are hiring a helicopter company to support the rig

paying staff for the rig. some of the staff make well over 100k per year. (i think thats fair ....its dangerous work and your away from home for 6 months.)

you are taking care of the staff, feeding them having freshwater delivered etc. then you are paying a tanker (or if you own one you are taking into consideration overhead of it too!) to take the crude to a refinery which is most likely not in the USA.

your paying to refine it. (factor in staff there) then transport via truck and rail car or barge to a terminal. then via truck to the gas stations (which you do not own. )

now....on top of all that you have to pay corporate execs that have the experience to make an operation with so much overhead profitable. you have pay corporate staff from the CEO down to the janitor. oh...i forgot...you have to pay insurance on all of this, and health insurance to all the workers.

    oh wait...lets not forget advertising.
    or product research and testing.

so 3.25 per gallon (this is w/o tax based on Pa gas prices)

Every business has overhead. But not many have the entire population of the world as customers.

The cost of gas fluctuated up and down over ten cents here in the past week.
It's all about speculation, not costs.

    Gas, Up and Down

-Here in NW Boonies of Florida gas came down nearly twenty cents last few days. If we don't buy food or any of those other unnecessary items I speculate I can fill my gas tank payday. :bouncy:
